Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs

Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs
Colorado Springs is renowned the world over for its unique attractions & places of interest. One such attraction is the Garden of Gods, a public park located in the US city of Colorado Springs.

The Garden of Gods with its towering rock formations as old as 250 to 300 million years has been a climber’s paradise for decades. Every year over 2,500 climbers come down to the Garden of Gods to enjoy the ascend along these conglomerate & sandstone rocks. This is more so since the entrance to the park is absolutely free.

Attractions
One of the most striking & popular attractions of the park is a large rock formation known as “Balanced Rock”. Located right near the entrance of the park is the Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center offering free nature presentations on a daily basis. Also on display are historic exhibits like geology, local wildlife, minerals, plants, etc.
Another interesting site near the park entrance is the Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site. A walking tour across this rustic ranch demonstrates features like a restored ranch house & activities of the Native Americans. Since the ranch is not part of the park, an admission fee is charged.

Recreations
The Garden of the Gods besides being a climbing Mecca also offers numerous trails for activities like mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, etc. One of the most popular trails however is “Perkins” paved to combat the garden’s erosion. The steep, unusual rock formations of the park offer a challenge for many climbers. Thus an annual permit can be availed at the Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center. The park is also renowned as a bicycle riding area owing to its safe roads, spectacular views & fresh air.

Hotels
Complimenting the scenic beauty of the Garden of the Gods is the equally beautiful Garden of the Gods Club. The hotel offers world class amenities with the finest views of the surrounding.
